Bluegreens Newsletter - Forum 2024

April 16, 2024 Share

The 26th Bluegreens Forum was held at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds in Paihia over the weekend of 24th & 25th February. Once again the keynote speaker was our Leader Hon Christopher Luxon. He was accompanied by 11 National Party MPs, with an outstanding attendance of 160 members and NGO representatives.

Prime Minister Luxon and his team set the tone, both recognising the strength of the Bluegreens as a Policy Advisory Group and his commitment to a strong, science-based decision-making sustainable environment. He also reiterated that you can’t have a strong environment unless it is coupled with a strong economy. This message was warmly received by all attending this Forum.

The Sunday field trip was to Top Energy’s Ngawha Geothermal Power Station.

2023 Forum

March 21, 2023 Share

The 2023 Bluegreens Forum, held in Blenheim on the 25th of March, was one of our best yet. Both the Leader and Deputy delivered keynote addresses, with Christopher Luxon taking the opportunity to announce National's flagship Three Waters policy.

We also heard from keynote speakers Josh Ellison at Re-wiring NZ, and Richard Dawkins - Marlborough's Sheep and Beef Farmer of the year for 2021.

There were also several pitch a policy sessions from Forest & Bird, Energy Resources Aotearoa, EnviroSolve, WWF-NZ, Irrigation NZ, Greenpeace, and the Packaging Forum.

We ran three panel sessions - RMA reform, Agriculture and the Environment, and a session with our new 2023 candidates led by our newest MP, Tama Potaka.
